Last Saturday, motoring gearheads and motorsports fans went straight to Clark International Speedway to witness another action-packed “waku-doki” race as Toyota Motors Philippines brings the Vios Cup one-make racing series in Pampanga. Now on its 3rd season, the race aims to develop new breed of grassroots talents and hone skills of Filipinos racers.

The main highlight of the event was the launching of their updated 2017 Toyota 86. New exterior of the 86 includes a new rear bumper, LED headlights and taillamps, steering wheel controls, hill-start assist, and touchscreen display.
The 86’s design comes from many legendary sources: the 2000GT, the Sports 800 and the Hachi-Roku Trueno. All these design concepts were merged to create a road-hugging, aerodynamic machine that has a truly unique look.
In terms of performance, the upgraded 86 retained its naturally aspirated, flat-four boxer 2.0-liter engine that provides a powerful 200-horsepower. Safety-wise, the 86 is equipped with all of Toyota’s world-renowned safety features such as a reinforced cabin, Vehicle Stability Control, high mount stop lamp, anti-lock braking system (ABS) and SRS airbags.
Toyota is selling 2 variants for the 86—the manual transmission (P1.749 million) and automatic transmission (P1.849 million). It comes in 7 different colors from Dark Gray Metallic, Pure Red, Crystal Black Silica, Ice Silver Metallic, Lapis Blue Pearl, Orange Metallic, and Crystal White Pearl.
