Meet Chevy’s new Truck Contender

No doubt, Filipinos really loves pickup truck. It’s meant for daily drive and weekends urban getaways. But more than the travel, pickup trucks are meant for practical hauling. The boys from The Covenant Car Company, Inc. (TCCCI) shares their heritage of building legendary and dependable trucks. Recently, the company brings a new face for their truck segment—the 2018 Chevrolet Colorado Centennial Edition.


For 100 years, Chevrolet has relentlessly built legendary, strong, and dependable trucks that are made for work and play. From the first production of Chevy 1918 One-Ton to the redesigned Chevrolet Colorado, the same DNA has been carried through each Chevrolet truck: power, dependability, durability, and quality.

The new Centennial Edition features design elements that exude the rich Chevrolet truck engineering history. It includes exclusive heritage bowtie emblems on the front and rear. On its front doors are 100-year Chevrolet badges that are inspired by the colors and design cues found on early trucks. Each limited-edition Colorado Centennial model also features a vehicle build number displayed as badges on its front doors and unique hood decals.

To add more bling, Chevy puts new 18-inch black alloy wheels. The rugged character of the 2018 Colorado Centennial Edition is further enhanced by the inclusion of a bedliner, fender flares, and a tubular body sports bar as standard.


At its heart is a 2.8-liter Duramax 4-cylinder turbo-diesel engine,  which is perfectly suited to a 6-speed automatic transmission. It has 200 horsepower at 3,800 rpm and 500 Nm of torque at a low 2,000 rpm, thanks to its Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VGT)!

In case of emergency, you can make sure that the new Centennial Edition will stay tough on the road. Thanks to its off-road capability with its 1-ton hauling capacity, 3.5-ton towing capacity, and best-in-class 800 mm water wading capability.

In terms of safety, the truck is equipped with host of active and passive safety features. It also has side impact beams, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), dual front airbags, Panic Brake Assist (PBA), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Traction Control System (TCS), Hill Descent Control (HDC) and Hill Start Assist (HSA), Roll-Over Mitigation (ROM), and Trailer Sway Control (TSC).  

Tech-wise, the Colorado comes with convenient features including remote start engine, front and rear park assist, electro chromatic inside rearview mirror, lane departure warning, forward collision alert, and tire pressure monitoring system.


Classic in form and detail yet futuristic in execution, the cabin provides superior comfort and segment-leading technology and connectivity, including an intuitive 8-inch color touchscreen that houses the latest-generation Chevrolet MyLink Infotainment System and Siri Eyes Free, which serves as a vehicle personal assistant so you can keep your eyes on the road and hands on the wheel at all times.
