The MPT DriveHub Cycling Team has officially entered the competitive cycling scene—and what a debut it was! Battling against 16 elite racing teams in the prestigious MPTC Tour of Luzon, the team not only made a bold entrance but also captured major victories, firmly establishing itself as a rising powerhouse in Philippine cycling.

A Team Effort, A Historic Win

From the first pedal stroke to the final finish line, the MPT DriveHub Cycling Team demonstrated outstanding synergy, discipline, and grit—ultimately seizing the Team General Classification title with a total time of 88:22:02. In their inaugural race, the team dethroned the reigning champions, marking the start of a promising new chapter in the sport.

Spotlight on the Standouts

Team captain Mervin Corpuz led by example, dominating the sprints and claiming the Sprint King title. His consistent podium finishes and tactical brilliance throughout the stages reaffirmed his status as one of the country’s elite cyclists. “Hindi madali ‘yung laban, pero pinakita ng team na basta may tiwala sa isa’t isa, kaya naming lumaban hanggang dulo,” shared Coach Santi Barnachea. “Proud ako sa team na ito.”

Co-captain Jonel Carcueva was another key figure in the team’s success, finishing 3rd in the Individual General Classification and 3rd in the Eagle of the Mountain category. His resilience and steady performances were crucial in propelling the team forward.

Completing the trio of top performers, Rustom Lim landed in the Top 10 of the Individual General Classification, showcasing his strength and strategic racing on one of the country’s most grueling cycling stages.
