If you’re a frequent user of Uber and Grab, chances are, you already experiencing difficulties in doing bookings. Why? Well, its because of the higher demands nowadays as Christmas approaches. Plus, some motorists preferred doing car pooling, instead of embracing the horrible traffic.

A few months ago, we heard few noise on social media about new app LibreTaxi trying make a name in the ride-sharing services. Unlike Uber and Grab, LibreTaxi is based on Telegram messaging app that works on iOS, Android, Mac, and Web. It offers no credit cards and drivers get paid directly with cash.

To be honest, we really don’t know how their app works. But this afternoon, we received an email from the office of Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) ordering an immediate cease operation of LibreTaxi.

Here’s the statement from Atty Aileen Lizada of LTFRB:

Please be informed that LibreTaxi, which is considered as another form of TNC, has not coordinated with the LTFRB, and as such, cannot operate. LTFRB strongly warns LibreTaxi to stop all bookings made with this type of application/platform as those that are operating considered colorum.

Otherwise, LTFRB will be constrained to take legal actions against LibreTaxi and all responsible parties involved.
