Auto Nation Group, Inc. (ANG), the exclusive distributor of Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles in the country, has recently introduced the heavy-duty Mercedes-Benz Actros truck with the second generation of Active Brake Assist at the Freeport Zone of Clark Air Base in Pampanga.

Organized in a live demonstration test, the event showcase on how the safety technology of Atros truck activates in various pre-collision situations on the road.

Don Ramos, Assistant Vice President for commercial vehicles of ANG, said, “We are proud to demonstrate the accuracy and efficiency of the second generation of Active Brake Assist and how it can further help prevent accidents and collisions.  We at Auto Nation Group would like to strengthen the presence of the safest truck in the world, the Mercedes-Benz Actros, in our country to make our roads even safer.”

Ramos explained, “The Actros is by itself a safe and modern truck.  With the second generation of Active Brake Assist, truck drivers, passengers, and other motorists on the road are assured of safer roads because of this risk-mitigating technology.  Mercedes-Benz puts a premium on safety, and you can expect that we will continue to find ways to ensure our vehicles are always safe and reliable.”

One of the main development highlight of the event is the revolutionary Active Brake Assist system, which was introduced for the Mercedes-Benz Actros heavy-duty truck in 2006 and has since proven itself time and time again out on the road.

Active Brake Assist 2 offers decisive advantages over other systems currently under development. The tried-and-tested radar technology operates robustly under all weather and light conditions, for instance. Although Active Brake Assist 2 cannot always prevent accidents, the automatic application of the brakes does reduce the collision speed and, therefore, mitigates the consequences of accidents substantially.
