Newly Transport Company EcoDyip has formally signed a contract with Mahindra Philippines in its bid to support the government’s Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program.

The Indian car manufacturer Mahindra will supply 1,000 units of Mahindra Modern Jeepneys worth P2-billion.

The first 100-units were turned over last week in a signing ceremony held at the Megatent in Libis, Quezon City, with Mahindra PH President Felix J. Mabilog, Jr.

In a press statement, Dennise Trajano, Managing Director of EcoDyip, Inc.,shared that his company is confident in venturing into the local Jeepney-bound commuter line, particularly the Euro-4 compliant Mahindra T20 and Supro Modern Jeepney.

“Having tested the Mahindra T20 and Supro Modern Jeepneys on the road for days, I find the vehicle responsive, efficient and has good handling capabilities,” said Trajano.

“One advantage worth mentioning is its air-conditioning system which can provide comfortable cooling power even when the units are fully loaded,” he added.

Trajano explained that “Mahindra is a Fortune 500 Conglomerate with over US$22 billion in annual revenues. Its global presence spans 7 continents and over 100 countries, with over 200,000 employees worldwide—in aerospace, information technology, agribusiness, defense, and financial service.”

To strengthened local support, the largest utility vehicle manufacturer in India invested a modern and fully-equipped assembly plant in a sprawling 10-hectare complex at the Laguna International Industrial Plant (LIIP) in Laguna. The manufacturing plant is capable of assembling more than 10,000 units yearly.

Aside from providing fuel-efficient and modernized Jeepney’s, EcoDyip also plans to hire Jeepney drivers that will be trained on technical driving, safety measures, and proper etiquette in dealing with passengers. The newly Mahindra Jeepneys vows to ensure safety, comfort and security of the riding public, including persons with disabilities (PWDs).
