The local unit of Korean car maker Hyundai posted a record vehicle sales in the first quarter of the year with 9,949 units sold, surpassing its sales of 8,847 units sold in the same period last year.
According to Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI), the exclusive distributor of Hyundai passenger cars and commercial vehicles in the country, the company sales went up by 12.5-percent, which in March 2019 alone sold 3,412 units or a 6-percent increase.
“HARI sustained its growth momentum in the first quarter driven by the successful introduction of fresh and innovative models such as the Reina at the start of the year and a more positive buying sentiment from consumers. We are well-poised to continue this upward trend over the next three quarters as we recently unveiled pioneering vehicles at the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS),” explained Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo, President and CEO of HARI.
The introduction of Hyundai’s first ever full-size SUV of Hyundai Palisade and fully electric vehicle Kona at Manila International Auto Show (MIAS), which draws over 140,000 spectators proves all their cars are worth indomitable.
According to HARI, the overall growth to the success of its core models are attributed on Passenger car (PC) segment and the continuous positive performance of Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) segment, which significantly increase by 70.5-percent or 4,306 units in the first quarter of 2019 compared to the 2,526
units sold in the same period of the previous year.
Moreover, Hyundai remains confident that the release of the all-new Accent and its smaller budget-friendly siblings, the Hyundai Reina, will maintain its position as the brand’s main volume drivers for PC segment.
On the Commercial Vehicle (CV), HARI becomes undisputed with business more than doubled over the period, growing by 106-percent. The Korean car maker also plans to make its high-quality CVs more accessible with the construction of 7 additional dedicated CV dealerships across the country on top of the six fully operational ones in major growth areas.
