The Society of Philippine Motoring Journalists (SPMJ) recently held its annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project dubbed as “Driven to Serve” awards.

Now on its 3rd year, the “Driven to Serve” awards aims to acknowledge and recognized the most outstanding CSR projects among local car manufacturers and importers. Some of these CSR initiatives includes scholarships, better jobs, rehabilitating a river, harvesting rainwater, free surgery, and road safety programs.

This year’s entries submitted by 6 local auto manufacturers and importers including Ford, Isuzu, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Toyota, and Volkswagen. The categories were divided into four, namely: Education and Training, Environment, Community Development and Road Safety.

“The Driven to Serve awards is our way to give back to our communities of readers. After the event, we shall again spread the word on corporate social responsibility. We know that someone who has not started to give back to his community will take inspiration from the stories of the good men in the automotive industry,” shares Pinky Concha Colmenares, President of SPMJ.

“Each time the Society of Philippine Motoring Journalists members meet to discuss the Driven To Serve Awards has been a rewarding experience. It is a joy to know that corporations, specifically the automotive makers and distributors, still have their hearts in the right place,” adds Colmenares.
