Morris Garages (MG) Motor unveiled the RC-6 sedan at the 2020 Auto Expo in India. The car is expected to be commercially rolled out next year. The premium sedan from the British automobile manufacturer will lock horns with the Honda Civic and Skoda Octavia in the Indian market.

The bonnet and the fastback silhouette of the RC-6 have a sporty look. A sharp shoulder-line cuts across the car’s profile. The tail lamp design of the MG RC-6 is similar to the all-electric ZS SUV launched recently in India.

The cabin of the RC-6 is inspired by luxury sedans. The connected infotainment unit and the digital instrument cluster looks strikingly similar to the Mercedes-Benz E-Class. The air-conditioning vents run through the dashboard’s width and the design seems to be borrowed from the Audi Q7.

The China-specific RC-6 has connected car technology, a digital instrument display, dual-zone climate control, full LED headlamps, and adaptive cruise control. Other features include a Bosch level-2 driver assistance system. Safety features of the RC-6 sedan comprise airbags, antilock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), lane keep assist, intelligent cruise assist, traffic jam assist, and lane departure warning.

The MG RC-6 will be hauled by a turbocharged, 1.5-liter petrol motor which produces 147PS maximum power and 245Nm peak torque. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox with an 8-step continuously variable transmission (CVT) available as an option. The car is expected to have a diesel engine option when launched in India.

The RC-6 is sold as the Baojun RC-6 in the Chinese market, where it is priced between ¥86,800-120,800. Its Indian version is expected to command an entry-level ex-showroom price of ₹15 lakh (PHP 108,000).
