Porsche’s first all-electric model, the Taycan, has emerged as the brand’s best-selling model in Europe, accounting for nearly a fourth of its deliveries last August. The Taycan was also one of Porsche’s strongest volume drivers in the US during the third quarter of the year.

Data from the London, UK-based auto industry intelligence supplier JATO Dynamics, as cited by Car Industry Analysis, showed Porsche sold 1,183 examples of the Taycan, with the result comprising 23.4-percent of the carmaker’s 5,046-unit total sales in Europe last August. The report revealed the Taycan was also among the region’s best-selling models in its size segment during the same month.

Sales of the Cayenne and the Cayenne Coupe were reported separately. Porsche sold 771 examples of the Cayenne, 554 of the Cayenne Coupe. Combining the 646-unit delivery of the Macan to the Cayennes’ total of 1,325 units means Porsche SUV models accounted for 39-percent of the brand’s performance during the same period.

Demand for Porsche’s legendary 911 remained strong as sales reached 1,097 units, while those of the 718 Cayman and Boxster tallied to 517 units. The Panamera found 278 buyers across Europe in August.

In the US, Porsche sold 1,858 Taycan models from July to September, with the result comprising 11.95-percent of the brand’s15,548-vehicle tally in the country during the most recent three-month stretch of 2020. Porsche’s performance represents a 5-percent increase over its 14,805 deliveries during the comparable period last year.

Sales of the Taycan in the third quarter followed those recorded by the Macan, at 5,466 units, and the Cayenne’s 4,509-unit total. Porsche also delivered 1,567 examples of the 911, 1,084 of the 718 models, and 1,064 of the Panamera.

Porsche, via a virtual launch program, recently introduced to Asia Pacific markets the Taycan, with the technology-packed model presented at Singapore’s futuristic Art Science Museum. The Taycan comes in three variants—Taycan 4S, Taycan Turbo and Taycan Turbo S—with their power output ranging between 530hp and 761hp. The average driving range of all three models is about 400 kilometers, which should cover about five to seven days of regular driving in urban settings like Metro Manila.

The range-topping Taycan Turbo S is now available in Porsche Centre Philippines.
