Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI), through its corporate social responsibility arm, HARI Foundation, Inc. (HFI), has teamed up with UP-PGH and the UP-PGH Cancer Institute on a pioneering initiative for women empowerment through proactive healthcare, entitled the “Alagang Breastfriend” project.

The partnership speaks volumes of the power of women channeled through the preeminent force of motherhood, and a resolute aim in promoting inclusivity and gender equality.

As such, the Hyundai H350 is seen as an important means of delivering care to women in the underserved sectors of society to provide women a greater chance at preventing the incidence of breast cancer, thereby helping improve the quality of their lives.  This customized, state-of-the-art breast cancer mobile diagnostic clinic will soon be at the service of the UP-PGH medical missions, so that they may reach out to inform, empower, and care for more and more women across the country.  This unique vehicle of healthcare will soon be a regular sight in key areas and regions, all set to offer timely information, diagnosis, and early detection of breast cancer.

The ceremonial vehicle turnover and deed of donation signing between HFI, UP-PGH, and UP-PGH Cancer Institute aptly took place on Breast Cancer Awareness month, an annual worldwide campaign to increase awareness about the disease.

The new partners in women health were one in expressing hope and optimism that, with the Alagang Breastfriend project, the fight against breast cancer will step up and evolve into a comprehensive movement to empower Filipinas to take charge of their health and continue to be a driving force in bettering the society at large.
