Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI), Honda’s automobile business unit, has named Masahiko Nakamura as its new president effective April 1, 2020. Nakamura-san will replace Noriyuki Takakura, who will transfer to Honda Automobile (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (HATC), one of the largest production facility in Southeast Asia.

Prior to this, Nakamura-san served as deputy general manager positions in various divisions at the Honda Motor Co., Ltd. headquarters in Japan, where he gained expertise in sales, business strategy, and marketing. Overall, Nakamura-san has more than 30 years of experience in Honda automobile operations.

The incoming top executive looks forward to sharing his expertise with the local team as he hopes to steer Honda’s automobile business through a challenging and evolving automotive landscape.

With the current global health crisis, it’ll be a tough job for the veteran executive to continue to drive Honda’s momentum in the local market. Last February, the Japanese car maker announced that it will cease production plant in Santa Rosa, Laguna. The company produces the Honda City and Honda BR-V.

Ganbatte, Nakamura-san!
