The Department of Tourism (DOT) and Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) Philippines have inked a partnership to promote and rebuild local tourism in the country. Dubbed as Motourismo, the campaign is a Motorcycle Tourism Caravan geared towards rediscovering the country’s sights on two wheels.

In a press statement, Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo – Puyat, said, “By initiating this safe yet very thrilling and worthwhile campaign to promote motorcycle tourism through TPB, we want to restore the confidence of the public to travel domestically and help the tourism industry to bounce back from the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic crisis.”

Secretary Romulo-Puyat adds that they will be tapping motor riders as domestic tourism ambassadors because they are in a position to help promote the Philippines as a country of fun and diverse experience, as well as highlight motorcycles as secure and viable transportation mode to explore tourist attractions with minimum health and safety protocols in place.

This effort will also pave opportunities for tour operators to create new tour programs to be offered to both domestic and international tourists, help those who lost their jobs jumpstart small businesses, and generally serve as a platform to disseminate information on safety and health protocols when people go outside.

Motourismo is a pragmatic and sustainable way of promoting the country’s untapped tourism destinations. It will also showcase interesting culture and heritage sites, shops, restaurants, and other tourism products all over the country that Filipinos can discover.

Thoroughly planned during the past few months, Motourismo has come to fruition with TPB’s collaboration with DOT, Department of Transportation (DOTr), RidePH, and numerous motorcycle rider clubs and associations in the Philippines.

DOT Secretary Romulo-Puyat and TPB COO Allones were joined by former Senator Joseph Victor G. Ejercito along with several bloggers, influencers, and motorcycle enthusiasts during the virtual launching.

With this government-led initiative, a renewed sense of hope will be instilled in the Filipinos’ hearts and minds as they see that despite the challenges, the beauty of the Philippine tourist destinations remains worth exploring.

TPB is an attached agency of the Department of Tourism (DOT) mandated to market and promote the Philippines domestically and internationally as a preferred tourism and Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (M.I.C.E.) destination that prides itself with diverse and fun travel experiences.
